The Automotive Blockchain is collecting every possible touch point on a vehicle, based around a vehicles unique 17 digit VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) in one location. Currently all automotive records are in stored in different silos with no inter-connection and most are not digitized, which leaves you at the mercy of costly third party vehicle history providers.
This information includes vehicle registrations, motor vehicle inspections, vehicle insurance, vehicle finance, and vehicle history (maintenance, upkeep, mileage etc.). Basically, every touch point in a vehicle’s life-cycle can recorded and stored securely on the blockchain. The benefits from this will be enormous, especially to consumers, and the government, but also to industry, vehicle retailers and F&I industries.
